Day 7: Kinlochleven to Fort William

As we have a train to catch at the end of today we didn’t want to risk not making it, so had an early start. The weather was predicted to be very rainy but was better than I feared. Quite a bit of drizzle off and on and some short stretches of heavier rain but also a lot of dry patches.

Todays hike started with a lot of up – ending up in a pass between mountains with no signs of other people.

The hike was 16.1 miles with a total elevation gain of 2330 ft.

Beautiful, if sometimes bleak, views of mountains and occasional lochs.

The cloud cover was low for a lot of it with occasional break throughs of sunshine.

There was a lot of rain last night so there were lots of streams to cross and lots of stretches where the path had become a stream.

Finally it was the last high point and then it was a long – and not that interesting – walk down to Fort William  and along the road into town.
